Offering daily (Monday-Thursday) programming for ages 3 through 12, Summer JAM seeks to provide a safe, fun, loving environment where children are encouraged to learn and grow and experience new things. Students enrolled in Summer JAM attend free-of-charge, and receive academic enrichment as well as VBS-style lessons and crafts, outdoor play, weekly field trips, special interest clubs, and a week at beautiful Camp of the Hills near Marble Falls, Texas.
Overseen by Fortress staff and facilitated by college interns, Summer JAM relies heavily on volunteer groups who spend a week at a time nurturing, loving and mentoring our kids. We also need Fort Worth-area volunteers to house college students for the summer, provide encouragement in the form of small gifts and notes, provide lunches for our staff and adult volunteers, and teach a hobby or skill in our weekly special interest clubs. Please see our Volunteer Page for a complete list of VOLUNTEER NEEDS for Summer JAM and other Fortress YDC programs.
