ALL YOUTH INTERNSHIP POSITIONS HAVE BEEN FILLED FOR THE 2012 SUMMER. WE ARE NOW ONLY ACCEPTING APPLICATIONS FOR NON-PROFIT INTERNS.
Youth Interns act as the face of Fortress YDC as they interact with children and youth, parents and volunteers on a daily basis. Program Interns work directly with children in 1st-8th grade and report to Dani Kocur, the Summer JAM Director.
Responsibilities include:
- planning and implementing curriculum for their respective classrooms (with assistance from other Summer JAM staff members)
- developing relationships with Fortress's children and youth
- implementing the discipline system
- social, academic and spiritual mentoring
- managing the daily schedule
- ensuring the safety and well-being of the Fortress youth
- modeling appropriate behaviors and a Christ-like attitude to youth group volunteers
- participation in weekly intern-led devotionals
- and leading Urban Experience, a hands-on introduction to inner-city life for youth group volunteers
Program Interns may be asked to provide transportation on Fortress's 15-passenger vans, communicate with parents regarding their children, and/or provide administrative assistance when needed.
Non-Profit Interns use their writing and creative skills behind the scenes to communicate effectively with donors, potential donors, and volunteers. This internship can be tailored to meet your academic/career goals and interests, including tasks such as:
- Social media management
- Graphic design
- Creative projects
- Event planning
- Newsletter design and writing
- Marketing (video, promotional materials, etc)
- And more!
Non-Profit Intern applicants should possess excellent oral and written communication skills; be familiar with Facebook and Twitter applications; be comfortable using Adobe Photoshop for simple design and editing; and have a strong command of Microsoft Office tools, including MS Publisher.
