Yajaira Lemus
Assistant Program Coordinator

Yajaira is the Assistant Program Coordinator at Fortress and she is excited to see herself grow and fulfill all that this position entails. A big part of her role is to aid in breaking down the communication barrier for Spanish-speaking families. God tugs her heart for children in need and it fills her to be a part of getting to love on at-risk children and their families.

Yajaira was born and raised in the Historic Southside of Fort Worth and is a partner in the gospel at Southside Church of Christ.  It was in the youth group where she spent summers serving inner-city children in different areas of the U.S. and is also how she found out about Fortress. Yajaira studied Early Childhood Education at Tarrant County College and later set off to Ecuador for two and a half years! There is where she perfected her Spanish and grew her passion even more for serving others.

In her spare time, Yajaira loves to be active, going outdoors, and spending time with her husband, Josue, and pup, Lila. They as a family look forward to traveling around and anticipate the day they get to visit Ecuador again. A verse she remembers regularly is Colossians 3:23, “Work willingly at whatever you do, as though you were working for the Lord rather than for people.” Yajaira loves making others feel welcomed and cared for and is confident she will deliver that here at Fortress.
