Michelle's journey with Fortress YDC began in 2007 when her now-19 year old son was just 7. She has 5 children ranging from 19 yrs old to 5 yrs old. Fortress has been part of her village in raising of all her children. You can honestly call her last two children Fortress babies!
Michelle started volunteering in 2007 which turned into a position in Building Maintenance in January 2019. Whatever Fortress needs, she will do.
She received her Associate’s Degree in 2012 in Graphic Arts from Remington College and is now pursuing her Bachelor’s in Business Management with a focus on small entrepreneurship.
Working with Fortress YDC is a humbling experience. While volunteering, she has learned that giving back does not cost anything and has tried to instill that in her children’s lives also. Her oldest son is also working at Fortress, and her teenagers volunteer at Fortress also. In her spare time, Michelle likes to bake for family and friends.
“Do nothing out of selfish ambitions or vain conceit. Rather, in humility value others above yourself. Not looking to your own interests but each of you to the interests of others.” -Philippians 2: 3-4
