Brianna works as the reading lab facilitator for Pre-K through 3rd grade, as well as the math and literacy teacher for 4th-5th grade. Her responsibilities include assisting the children in their reading comprehension, and creating a conducive learning environment.
She is taking pre-nursing classes at the University of Texas at Arlington (go Mavs!), and hopes to be accepted into the nursing program in the fall of 2016.
Brianna began working for Fortress in January of 2011 and has been here ever since. She started when her friend since high school, and then employee, Kelsey, mentioned a job opening to her. Brianna had visited a couple times before, and decided it would be a great place to work.
When she first started working at Fortress, Brianna looked at it as just a job. After over 4 years of employment, she realizes it is much more. Fortress is a place that helps kids continue their education, as well as gives them a safe place to be after school. Having worked at Fortress for so long, Brianna has been able to actually see not just the physical changes in the lives of some children, but also the mental and spiritual changes. Something she believes you can’t see just anywhere. But Fortress is also more than that; it’s something Brianna believes you just have to experience to know.
Brianna is an only child raised by her mother. She lives at home with her mom and her 3 dogs and 1 cat. When she’s not working or going to school she likes to shop, or go out with friends, and during the summer you can find her anywhere near a pool or amusement park. She enjoys almost all kinds of music, and every Sunday at 8 you’ll catch her in front of the TV, waiting on the newest episode of The Walking Dead.
She has many great memories of Fortress, it’s hard to pick just one. A few of her favorites are impromptu dance parties where everyone gets in on the action, big and small, young and old. Dress up days from the summer, when some of the kids come dressed as a theme. Watching Omar win his school spelling bee. And going on awesome field trips. But some of her favorite moments are as simple as just spending time with the kids, helping them grow and getting to know them. A lot has happened at Fortress for Brianna in 4 years, and she hopes to have many more great memories to come!
