"I pray God blesses the children…" by Lauren Taylor - St. Bowietta

My name is Lauren Taylor. I'm sixteen years old, almost a junior in high school. I am part of a conglomerate youth group known around Fortress as St. Bowietta.

I was placed with Greece, which is the fourth and fifth graders. I am super blessed that Ta'Niya, Sa'Niya, Carlton, Omar and Taylor were in my group, as well as the others that have graced us with their presence here. Whether those kids know it or not, it is so refreshing to see young minds eager to work and learn. These kids have been a huge blessing to all of us who have had the privilege to be their buddies this week. Helping them also helps us, and getting to know them better pushes me to be a great example to them in hopes that I will see all of them again next year.

I have had Ta'Niya as my buddy for the past three years, and seeing how she has much grown over time is incredible and I want others to feel the way I do. I wish everyone could understand how other people work the way Fortress does.

The verse that inspired me this week was Proverbs 16:3 which reads, "Commit to the Lord whatever you do and He will establish your plans." It reminds me to try and focus on the important things. I love Fortress and everything that it stands for. I pray God blesses the children, workers and ministry here.
