Karaoke Night at Fortress

Last Friday night was an interesting night at Fortress YDC, to say the least! For February's family event, Fortress hosted a Valentine's Dinner and karaoke night. Tables were decorated with red tablecloths, conversation hearts, watercolor valentines, Avengers valentines, temporary tattoo valentines, and of course, pink valentines. Families got to enjoy a dinner of Mrs. D's famous (and delicious) spaghetti and meatballs, salad, garlic bread and cookies, served by volunteers from the Fort Worth Junior League. DJ Malfunxion got the party started by spinning some old school Michael Jackson and other favorites during dinner and then turned the mic over to the crowd. Gabriel and his mom, Pakecia, were brave enough to go first, with a duet of the Sir-Mix-A-Lot classic, "Baby Got Back." While it's not exactly what you'd consider a "Valentine's Day classic," everybody knew the words and it got the dance floor going too. And we all know how much Olaf loves the spotlight, so it was no surprise when Ethan busted out his best rendition of his theme song, "In Summer"! Word must've gotten around that we were having a rockin' good time, because we were pulling out extra chairs by the end of the evening despite only a few families signing up ahead of time to attend. I have a feeling that the next karaoke night will have families jumping at the chance to attend
