"Merry Christmas to all and to all a good night!" Fortress YDC welcomed a very special guest to our Christmas pajama party on Friday, December 11. The big jolly man in red took a break from supervising his busy little elves at the North Pole to come visit with the nice (and even the naughty!) families at Fortress. And there was a bonus special guest appearance from our favorite snowman! No, not Frosty. Olaf! After taking a break over Thanksgiving, Olaf joined us for another celebration -- I think he must really love the families here at Fortress.
Santa took pictures with all the kids, from tiny tots with their eyes all aglow to the big kids who are still young at heart. He even led a rousing boys-versus-girls match of Simon Says. Gabriel represented the boys in the final round, but thanks to Kyla and her excellent listening skills, the girls won!
Kids also had the chance to make sock snowmen and snowwomen with help from some very patient Fort Worth Christian youth group volunteers. Families were treated to a traditional Christmas dinner of ham, rolls, mashed potatoes and green beans. For dessert, there was a beautiful cake and a hot chocolate bar with mini marshmallows and plenty of whipped cream!
At the end of the night, Santa returned to the North Pole and our kids, who came decked out in their favorite PJs, went home to nestle snug in their beds while visions of sugarplums (and Christmas break) danced in their heads. Fortress will be closed for Christmas break from December 21 through January 4. We hope everyone has a very Merry Christmas, and we can't wait to see y'all again in 2016!
