A Smile and a Joyful Heart

Today's featured blogger is Wyatt Willis. He is 17 years old and a member of the After Sunday Project.

This is my first year at Fortress, and I did not really know what to expect. I was blown away. I have gotten to know some of these kids just as if I had known them forever. During the day as we interact with them it is amazing to see how well they get along with each other and play with each other with no arguing or fighting.

After we eat breakfast, we sit down for worship. It is absolutely amazing to see these kids lift their glory to God and sing praises to him without worrying about being embarrassed. When it is time to pray, every one jumps at the opportunity to be the one to pray and every single kid closes their eyes and is respectful.

A few kids have really touched my heart with their smiles and joy all the time. There is not a doubt in my mind that each one of these kids is teaching each "buddy" something, and the "buddies" are to be setting an example for their kids.

After the kids leave, our group here goes on an Urban Experience. these turned out better than I expected. When we went to talk to the homeless, they will talk your ear off, then part ways leaving you with a smile and a joyful heart.

Every morning it seems easier to wake up knowing it is another day to spend with these kids. Another day for them to touch our hearts. I am looking forward to going to Six Flags with them, but will be sad because it's the last day I'll be here. If it is up to me, I would love to come back again.
