I Am a Child of God With the Ability to Achieve My Dreams

Working with the youngest kids at Fortress can be a handful. They are full of energy, laughter and smiles. Although having almost 30 kids between the ages of 3 and 7 can be pretty stressful, I am reminded every single day why I love my job so much. These kids teach me things daily and they make me realize just how blessed I am. Each kid at Fortress has been such a blessing in my life.

When I got this job 3 years ago I never would have thought that I would be where I am today. I would have never expected to have this kind of experience coming into this job. To put it simple…Fortress has changed my life. After seeing the change that Fortress has made in these kids lives, I want to dedicate more than just my summers to working with inner city kids. Once I graduate from college I want to come right back to the Fort Worth area and jump right back into working with these kids. The programs that Fortress has to offer have positively impacted many children’s lives. Most of the kids here have raised their grades and test scores all because of what Fortress is doing. The way that Fortress provides for these kids is something that someone has to see for themselves. I see God working through the kids every day and there is no doubt that God is present in the lives of these precious kids.

One of the most important things we tell the kids is that they are “A child of God with the ability to achieve their dreams.” To me this is one of the most encouraging things you can tell a child. Every single kid at Fortress has the potential to achieve his or her dreams. It is my hope and prayer that Fortress can change the lives of these children and that we can help them achieve those dreams that they have. Every single one of them deserves an opportunity to work towards whatever dreams they may have.

Please be praying for these kids. They need tons of love and support. They are precious children of God and they need prayers.
