Brian McLaren, in his book The Church on the Other
Side writes, "What would happen if a group of
missionary strategists sat down and asked…"
"How can we make this a more God-honoring world one
hundred years from now?"
I suspect they would reach this conclusion:
Concentrate on children. They would say, "Think
about the kind of people we need in the world of the
future, and begin with the children. Use schools,
summer camps, after-school and summer activities,
books and tapes and Internet sites, wilderness
experiences, television and radio, music and movies
and art to build new generations of Christian kids."
Since studies show that most practicing Christian
adults made serious faith commitments between the
ages of thirteen and eighteen, perhaps we need to
put, say, 80 percent of our missionary emphasis on
kids under the age of eighteen."
With that in mind, Fortress Youth Development Center
has formed a cohesive plan, with every program
designed to take children one step closer to God.
Each program is progressive and complementary to
incorporate a broad range of developmental elements
that build on each other. |
